Finding the Right Record Office
For address-based property and deed research, use the Commerce Township street directory. The city directory collections are the historical route, while the resident lookup path separates parcel, court, vital, and other verification sources. A request for a township-held record may be made under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act, MCL 15.231 et seq., but court records and restricted vital records use their own procedures.
